Building our Winning Culture

At Somerset Bridge Group (SBG), we believe great outcomes start with great people. That belief sits at the heart of our recently evolved Winning Culture – a clear, shared way of working that reflects who we are today and how we want to succeed tomorrow.

The autumn of 2025 saw us evolve how we describe our Winning Culture, revisiting what was already one of our strongest assets and a key reason people choose to come and stay at SBG. We now describe this culture through five values – Real People, One Team, Own It, Be Brave and Stay Hungry – but it’s about far more than words. It’s about how it feels to work here, how we make decisions, how we collaborate, and how we support one another to do our best work. At SBG, culture isn’t something we write once and move on from; it’s something we actively shape, test and strengthen together.

To make sure these weren’t just catchy words on a wall without substance, we gave everyone in the business the opportunity to help design this Winning Culture – and over 70% of our colleagues did! Through surveys, focus groups, interviews and rounds of iterations with our representative Bridge Builder colleague network, we made sure that our description of how we want to work built on the best of what we had already, stayed authentic to what has made SBG special, while setting us up to thrive in the future.

We’re now on the journey of making sure that culture is a reality for all our colleagues every day – and that’s a journey that will take time. Whether it's through organisation-wide initiatives, leader-led action plans or Bridge Builder designed grassroots projects, every day we’re taking a step closer to living up to our values and the ambition we’ve set ourselves.

For those considering joining SBG, this is just another way that we prove we’re genuinely prove we're genuinely fuelled by our people. Here, you’ll find a workplace that aspires to be somewhere that values ownership, encourages bravery, invests in development and believes performance and positive culture go hand in hand.

At SBG, our Winning Culture is how we win – together.
